Royal style, 3 easy ways to get it

post by Village Antiques

Lately, I’ve been kind of obsessed with Royal news. I loved watching the Royal wedding and I am so fascinated by where the new couple will live.

Will they do a design update to their new (old) residence, or just keep it as is?

If it were me, I would probably keep it as is!

Now, personally, I’ve always been a fan of these decadent palaces and centuries old chateaus.

Having visited many of these, I’ve observed there are a few easy ways to implement design styles that appear over and over again.

One of my long-time design dreams has been to have a room fit for a queen! Well I first said, a room fit for a princess, and my little son said, “No, a Queen”

Of course, you have to use these style tips tastefully, or else it can quickly become too much with the way we design over here!

Here are a few easy ways to capture the Royal style:

Adorn the Walls with One of these Must Have Styles

The walls are never left bare in a Royal residence.

Not sure what to do? Here are three no-fail options that will easily give you Royal status:

1) Add painted paneling to your walls. Royal residences have panelled walls which have been decadently painted to match the fabrics in the room.

This is one of my favorite design upgrades and will easily create timeless elegant style

2) Add a floral wallpaper. Many of the royal palaces take inspiration from Nature. These garden inspired prints make incredible wall décor.  The patterns are soothing and you can find endless colorways.

Here are some of my favorite wallpaper styles:

3) Prefer a more minimalist style for your walls? Then add in a tapestry to bring in a rich, textural story and piece of history!

Take a look at some of these beautiful patterns and designs:

Add an antique chair, sofa, or bed! Just one will do the trick.

Instead of a traditional new store bought side chair, opt for a rare one-of-a-kind antique chair to add royal style into your room.

In fact, you can even add more than one!

You can do the same thing in place of a traditional loveseat – add an antique sofa.

Or if you’re really brave in your design style, add an antique daybed

Rich Fabrics

I’m working my way down the list based on how willing you are to embrace the royal style.

Last but not least, add decadent fabrics into your decor to bring the richness of the castle style into your home.

Two of my favorite Royal styles

Neither of these two categories will ever go out of style! These are fabric patterns I often use in my modern day decorating.

So what do you think?
